CHOSEN TRACK: TAME IMPALA - THE LESS I KNOW THE BETTER
Tame Impala are one of my favourite bands, so when I found out the 7 tracks I knew straight away I wanted take on the challenge of creating artwork for a band I listen to and admire.
ALBUM: CURRENTS
The single cover for The Less I Know the Better has currently not been released. However, here are the single covers that led up to the album release.
Let It Happen - Released 11/03/15
'Cause I'm a Man - Released 07/04/15
Disciples - Released 29/04/15
Kevin Parker (lead vocalist and musician) has a big hand in how the band sounds. Their sound is heavily influenced by late 1960s and early 1970s psychedelic rock, which is achieved through various production methods. Some favoured and often-used effects by Parker include phasing, delay, reverb and fuzz.
"He has said that listening to the Bee Gees on mushrooms and cocaine inspired him to change the sound of the music he was making on Currents." - NME
MUSIC VIDEO:
Displays a funky array of visuals that follow a strange storyline that has been interpreted in a few interesting ways (theories below).
The video uses artistic visions to express the psychedelic aesthetic of the song. Videography, illustration, collage, sculpture, paint and animation.
Theory One - The story entails about a boy and his bravery of going down on a hairy pussy. He has to face his fear of hair, which is represented as "Trevor" the Gorilla. To over win his love interest he has to confront this challenge and thus defeat Trevor (v trippy).
Either way, I think it would be interesting to include these stories within some of my designs.
