Nest - Space/Initial ideas

As part of my 'Responsive' work, I have decided to submit for LCA's Nest Magazine Issue 11.

The theme is Space and it has been encouraged by the Editor-In-Chief that the submissions are based around outer space *insert rocket emoji*.

Editorial design has always been a big interest of mine and having work be published within a professional publication that is submitted nationally and internationally is a great way to get my work out there.

I attended the last issue launch at Colours May Vary and I was really blown away by the work within the publication. I was quite surprised to see the variation as I felt before it was quite a niche style of work that was included, however, with this new issue it feels more open and accepting of different processes and outcomes - especially with the Instagram account and website - meaning animations can be posted.

Initial ideas for outcomes:

Space photography

Recently got a Nikon DSLR camera, and I've been taking photos of the moon at night. Playing with the ISO I can get a clear image of the moon, so it would be interesting if I could create something with that.

Also, I've always been interested in creating long exposure photography - especially of the night sky, but because of light pollution in the city centre I don't think I'll be able to achieve decent results. Could be a case of having a night road trip for the some space photos.

Pixel Art

Pixel art is something I've been a fan of for a while, I follow various tumblr blogs that post their pixel creations and I've always wanted to be part of their artistic community. Designing with pixels might be a tedious time consuming process, so it might be a slow process that I keep coming back to.

Digital Art

Creating my own planet or world through digital design is something that interests me. I'm a big fan of alien films (Prometheus being one of my favs) and their cinematography. Creating my own alien world digitally is also an opportunity to expand on my photoshop skills and learn new ones.
