Studio Brief 02 - Licence to Print Money - Print techniques/research

With the restriction on no digital printing, this has given me a chance to explore other avenues I do not usually get to try out. Here is a list of methods of print I could use to create my design:

Screen print

Screen print is a method I have used before, the results are always pleasing and the colours that can be used are not restricted by a digital printer that only prints in CKMY. This gives me a chance to experiment with extravagant colours and interesting textures.

Vinyl

This method could be particularly successful if my banknote was to revolve around typography and bold imagery. However, I think having too much vinyl within one design could be overpowering. If was to use this method I would use it within reason and minimally.

Foiling

Using foiling paper with gold, silver, bronze or metallic could be an interesting method. Foiling is a rather simple process, however from feedback of tutors and second year students in previous projects, advice has been given on the process and how the results are not always successful.

Letterpress

Letterpress could be used to for the typography of the banknote. One problematic thing about this process is the fact it is often difficult to print precisely onto something without not getting it in line. This means the design could have to be build around the type which could be difficult.
