Studio Brief 02 - Licence to Print Money - Initial research

In the brief it asks "is there a future for 'real' money?", which inspired me to research into the concepts of money and the predictions of the paths it will take in the future.

It also makes me wonder who will be in government at the time I will be creating the banknote, whether in the past/present/future.

Here is one perspective about the future of the banknote is hopeful about the continuation of printed money by the man in charge of printing many of the world's printed money.

"Even though we’re using credit and debit cards more than ever, people still have cash in their wallet. It’s convenient, it’s free at point of use, classless – not everyone has a bank account - and most of all, it’s reliable." - Martin Sutherland

This is very true, seeing as not everyone does own a bank account - printed money is still very relied on.

This confirms my direction with this brief, printing a classic banknote design feels like a good direction to go in, even if the future of money is to change, print is still relevant. By this I mean my design does not have to particularly futuristic or extremely different to what designs we have now.
