This shoot was taken over the Easter break in the holidays. Josh and I took it in turns taking snaps of each other. For this I wanted an urban vibe, so took it upon myself to venture into the dead of the night. The shots are simple, clean and crisp. I wanted to create some contrast on purpose, by selecting black and white clothing and putting them up against white backgrounds or bright areas that are going to make the model stand out more.
I often like capturing shots where the face is not visible. Although the main focus of the book is to capture people, too many faces can become distracting.
Capturing movement is a part of my book I want to keep flowing throughout. Some of the shots I already have express this. They do not necessarily looked posed either, even though they technically are. I do not want to swamp my book with posed images as it starts to feel rather put on and inadequate.
I feel these type of shots are more successful. The model pops out so clearly against the dead background. Got this effect by using the flash.
Contrasting yellow and blue.
