Using foiling or screen print, I could create a design infused with metallics, gold, silvers and bronzes - creating an expensive looking opulent banknote that truly represents the worth of the money. We live in a society obsessed with wealth and the need to 'get rich'. My aim with this design would be to try and convince people the money we spend it worth more than we think. By designing it to be extravagant, hopefully this would convince people to think twice about the way they spend.
Feedback:
- Using lots of metallic and golds etc… would be very interesting.
- Be careful with foiling as it can sometimes not come out the way you hope.
- Screen printing may become complicated if you want to incorporate a lot of colours and textures.
Concept 02: Kanye for President
Inspired by Kanye West's 2015 announcement of his aims to run for presidency in 2020. To create a banknote with a vision similar to Kanye's. Using bold imagery, potential gold aspects and minimal design.
Feedback:
- Really interesting take on the brief.
- Incorporates the futuristic aspect of money and how it could look.
Concept 03: Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous
Inspired by our societies obsession with celebrity life and pop culture, I could incorporate icon moments that have taken place in pop culture over the years. For example, an Andy Warhol inspired banknote to represent his movement that arguably shaped the future of art. Or a Beyonce inspired banknote demonstrating her recent strategy of dropping albums out of the blue and gaining roaring success - which has arguably changed the music industry forever.
Feedback:
- Possibly too similar to the Kanye concept
- The Andy Warhol idea could be quite successful if pulled off. It also links with the celebrity status concept as he created art from photographs of Marilyn Monroe and many other iconic figures.
- Andy Warhol would be interesting to screen print - using exotic colours and possibly different textures.
