Notebook design by Caroline Gardner
This is one of notebooks I ordered from carolinegardner.com.
I use it for writing my notes and ideas for my work and I found it's design rather interesting.
The simplistic pattern on textures paper is something I may want to incorporate in my own final design. It brings something interesting and special to a simple notebook, however saying this, it is in fact a notebook - filled with empty pages. For design reasons I understand why the inside page of the front and back cover use an intense pattern. Including this sort of composition in a book filled with content (especially photographs) it could make it appear too much and give it a crowded feel.
I would much rather have a simpler layout and let my photographs speak for themselves. It would also have be cohesive to the contents of the photos and possibly incorporate a link to make it appear combined.
The spine of the book appears to be over exaggerated. It gives the front and back cover a side margin, which makes it appear more formal. Her brand name is also stylized largely over the back cover. It fits well as it incorporates similar colours seen in the imagery.
